Why these grants exist
After a disaster, insurance and emergency relief focus on the essentials: shelter, structure, safety. What no claim adjuster covers is the rest of a life — the things that made your days feel like yours.
A kid's bike. The colored pencils and sketchbooks. A guitar. The tent and sleeping bags from summer camping trips. A soccer ball and cleats. The board games that filled family evenings. These are the things a family quietly does without for months or years, because everything else comes first.
Normal Again Grants exist for exactly these things.
Who is eligible
Individuals and families in the Inland Northwest who have been affected by a natural disaster, emergency, or community crisis — including, but not limited to, the August 2026 Spokane-area fires. You do not need to have lost your entire home; smoke, displacement, and partial loss disrupt everyday life too.
What qualifies
Items that restore everyday normalcy: children's toys and bikes, hobby and recreation gear, art supplies, musical instruments, camping gear, sports equipment, and comfort items. If it's something your family did without because everything else came first, it's worth asking about.
What doesn't qualify
Rent, mortgage, and utility payments; structural repairs and rebuilding costs; medical bills; and vehicle replacement. These needs are real — they're simply served by insurance, government programs, and other relief organizations, and our grants are designed to fill the gap those programs leave, not duplicate them. How it works
Apply below — it takes about ten minutes, and you'll never be asked to relive more of your story than you're comfortable sharing. Applications are reviewed by our board. We're currently preparing our first grant cycle; applications submitted now are held and reviewed when that cycle opens, and we'll keep you updated by email either way.
